Is buying a plot a good idea? It is one of the most common questions we hear, from families in Islamabad and Rawalpindi and from Pakistanis living abroad. The honest answer is that it depends on you, your plans and the project you choose. What we can say for certain is this: nobody can promise you a return on a plot, and anyone who does is selling you a story. This post explains why, and what you can check instead. It is general information, not financial or legal advice. Why no one can promise returns A plot is land, not a fixed deposit. Its value in the future depends on many things that no seller controls: the wider economy, the pace of roads and services in the area, the rules that apply to the scheme, and what buyers want at the time you decide to sell. A promised figure on a poster or a WhatsApp message is a guess dressed up as a fact. If it were a fact, it would come with a contract and a regulator behind it. At New Airport City we do not promise returns, profits or dates. We would rather you hear that from us on day one than discover it later. Warning signs to watch for - A guaranteed percentage, or a "double your money" line. - Pressure to pay today because "the last plots are going". - A request to pay into a personal account or through an agent. - No willingness to show the approval, the master plan or the documents. - A verbal promise about a date or a future facility that is not in writing. If you see any of these, slow down. A sound project welcomes questions. What you can check instead You cannot check a forecast, but you can check facts. 1. The approval. Ask for the scheme approval and confirm it with the issuing authority. New Airport City is NOC Approved by PHATA, the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency. Our post on what PHATA NOC Approved means for buyers explains what the approval covers and what it does not. 2. The master plan. Ask to see the approved plan and where your plot would sit. The New Airport City master plan is by world-renowned town planner Meinhardt, with six communities, lakes and green zones. 3. The location. The community is on M-14 CPEC at Girja Link Road, Fateh Jang, near the New Islamabad International Airport. Look at the route yourself and judge what the location means for your own life. 4. The land today. See it first. Then decide. On site today you can see green spaces and lakes, and visitors enjoy fishing and some kayaking. Development is not complete, and our team will tell you plainly what exists today and what is planned. Renders show the vision of the master plan and are illustrative. 5. The documents and the payment route. Ask for everything in writing, and pay only into the official company account of the project, with a receipt every time. Our post on payment safety when buying a plot lists the habits that protect you. Questions to ask yourself Because the future cannot be promised, the better questions are about you: - Why do I want a plot: a home, a farmhouse, a commercial plot, or something else? - Can I afford the instalments from my regular income without stress? - Am I comfortable holding the plot for a long time without expecting a particular outcome? - Have I seen the land, or at least asked someone I trust to see it? - Would I still be comfortable with this decision if nothing changed for several years? If the answers are clear, you are deciding on your own terms. If they are not, take more time. There is no deadline that should rush a decision of this size. Frequently asked questions Is buying a plot a good idea? It can suit buyers with a clear purpose and a long view, but it is a personal decision. Check the approvals, see the land and decide for your own reasons, not on a promise. Does New Airport City guarantee returns? No. We do not guarantee returns, profits or possession dates, and you should be wary of any seller who does. How can I reduce my risk? Verify the approval, read the documents, see the land, pay only the official company account and take independent legal advice for your case. Can I visit before I decide? Yes. We encourage it. Ask the team to arrange a site visit, or a live video walkthrough if you are abroad. Talk to our team Have a question about approvals, plot details or how to buy safely?
